The MCF Advisors office in Lexington, KY
Lexington, KY

Our Lexington office is on the 12th floor of 333 W Vine St, in the middle of downtown and a few blocks from Rupp Arena and the courthouse district. It is the office that serves Central Kentucky, and the reach extends well past Fayette County: Nicholasville and Versailles are a twenty minute drive, Frankfort and Richmond are half an hour, and we work regularly with households in Somerset, London and Morehead who see us in person once or twice a year and handle the rest by video.

Public retirement systems shape more conversations here than anywhere else we work. A household in this market often has a teacher in it, or someone who spent a career with state government in Frankfort, or a long tenure at the university, and the retirement decision turns on pension elections and how those benefits interact with Social Security and a spouse's private plan. Alongside that sit Toyota in Georgetown, the hospital systems, and the farms, breeding operations and veterinary practices that make up the horse economy, each with its own set of questions.

Advisors, CPAs and estate planners work together on the same team, which is the point of the structure. The person running your tax projection sits with the person managing the portfolio and the person reading your trust documents, so a Roth conversion window, an unfiled deed or a beneficiary designation that was never updated after a remarriage gets found while there is still time to do something about it.

Local retirement picture

What Lexington retires from

The plans and employers we actually see across this market. Knowing them is the difference between generic advice and a plan built for the benefits you hold.

University of Kentucky and UK HealthCare

The largest employer in the region. Faculty, staff and clinicians typically hold a university retirement plan with contribution and payout elections that work differently from a corporate 401(k), and physicians often have additional deferred compensation to coordinate.

Kentucky state government in Frankfort

State careers run through the public pension system, and the elections made at retirement around survivor benefits and payout form are close to permanent. Modeling them before the paperwork is filed is the whole job.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky

The Georgetown plant draws workers from across the region. Long tenures build substantial 401(k) balances, and retirement timing is usually driven by service rules rather than by a chosen date.

Kentucky Teachers' Retirement System participants

Teachers and school administrators across Central Kentucky retire through the state teachers' system. How that benefit interacts with any Social Security earned from other work depends on the individual record and deserves a real projection.

Employer plans are described in general terms. Your own benefits, elections and deadlines govern, and we review them directly rather than assuming.

Questions

Questions from Lexington

Where is the Lexington office and where do I park?

333 W Vine St, 12th Floor, in downtown Lexington near the Vine and Broadway corner. There is garage parking adjacent to the building, and we will send you the specific entrance when we confirm the appointment.

I live more than an hour from Lexington. Can you still work with me?

Yes, and a meaningful share of the households we serve from this office are in that situation. The usual pattern is one or two in-person meetings a year, often scheduled around something you are already coming to town for, with video and phone in between. Documents and signatures are handled electronically.

Do you work with Kentucky public retirement systems?

Regularly. Teachers, state employees, county employees and university staff make up a large part of this market, and each system has its own election rules and its own interaction with Social Security. We model your specific benefit rather than applying a general rule, because the general rules are where people get hurt.

Does MCF do tax and estate work, or only investments?

The firm has advisors, CPAs and estate planning capability on one team, and for qualifying relationships the tax return is prepared in house. The practical benefit is timing: decisions get made while the year is still open instead of being discovered the following April.
